Chris Santomassimo: The Think Factory podcast is powered by OGC Solutions and I’m really excited to talk to Ross Hunter today. You know, Ross is the president of ROQ. You us so welcome to the podcast.
Ross Hunter: Thanks, Chris. Appreciate it, man. Thanks for having us.
Chris Santomassimo: Like what I think is really cool about what you guys do is your servicing, the apparel industry and you know, just in my estimation apparel and the ability to manufacture custom apparel is probably one of the biggest hotspots in the printing industry and it’s certainly crosses over into clothing and apparel. And you guys are the ones that basically power that process?
Ross Hunter: We like to think of ourselves as the ones that power that process. Yeah, it’s, uh, it’s it’s an interesting industry that I think it’s kind of under notice and underserved in a lot of ways. It’s a small community of people, but you know it’s it’s oftentimes I find myself out in the world and people ask, you know, what do you do? And we manufacture and distribute machines, and the decorated apparel space and people kind of look at you, huh? Shirts. Like. That’s a little strange. Like, yeah, you know, all the shirts in your closet that have some sort of decoration on them. You know, we’re a part of it, but I think people don’t realize what goes into that piece of clothing that they’re, you know, walking around wearing oftentimes.
Chris Santomassimo: Well, this is not the type of equipment that you might have seen years ago.
You got some screen printer in the mall that’s making sure it’s on, you know, a little tiny device.
I saw your equipment at the printing United show last year and it probably was one of the biggest attention getters in that huge exhibit hall.
Ross Hunter: I appreciate it, man. Yeah, we really taught ourselves on innovation, creating solutions. And you know are kind of mantras being your partner in print and what that really means to us is over the last years that ROQs been in business, manufacturing machines for this industry, all of our innovations been predicated off of client feedback. And the biggest thing that we’ve taken away is how do we make this industry better? How do we make it more efficient? How do we drive data into an industry that you know notoriously doesn’t have it right? I mean, you’ve got a lot of businesses have been running for – years and they’re not measuring KPIs. They’re not understanding you know how they’re production model works and their operational environment. And so we’ve strived over this time to really innovate our products and not only print grade garments, but you know, bring a level of, you know, I guess business acumen may not be the right word. But you know a level of data and and ability for people to run their businesses in a much more efficient way.
