Chris Santomassimo: Welcome to ou podcast, powered by OGC solutions and I’m your host Chris Santomassimo at least the host for today and I’m excited to introduce everyone to our new friend Liz Hare, who’s the Vice President and heads of operations at Mt Royal Printing. So welcome to the podcast list.
Liz Hare: Thank you for having me, Chris.
Chris Santomassimo: That’s terrific. So you’re calling in and we’re doing it remotely from here in Baltimore, which I think is your head of operations, Right?
Liz Hare: Yeah.
Chris Santomassimo: But I love to- Yeah. We’d love to have you introduce Mount Royal to the folks that, you know, might even be your neighbors, but would love to hear more about the exciting things that you’re doing and the capabilities that you have. At Mt Royal.
Liz Hare: Sure. So Mt Royal Printing Company is a family based commercial printing company. We- our headquarters is in Baltimore, Maryland. We have two facilities here. They’re across the street from each other. So we have our main offset building and then we have our digital white format mailing is housed in a secondary location. Its where I am today. And then in Pennsylvania, we have our fulfillment warehouse and our fulfillment Solutions is out of Lancaster, Pennsylvania. So what we focus on is U.V. print. We work on, we have offset, we have digital, we have mailing, white format. As most printers, we have had to diversify into pretty much everything. So we’re a one stop shop for our clients. How I like to phrase us is that we have big shop capabilities, but we have that small family shop feel. So you have a relationship with your rep, you have a relationship with your customer service. Four members of my family currently work here. You have a relationship with us if you work with us. So that’s where we kind of I see that little that niche for us is that we can do anything that anybody can do. But if you really still like personalized service, we’re here for you and we’re going to be here for you. We service the Washington, D.C. market, greater Maryland area, obviously, Delaware, Pennsylvania. So we can, we’ve had national clients, but really, mid-Atlantic regional is super easy for us to service. And that’s that’s about it. I said a nutshell.
Chris Santomassimo: That is a big nutshell because you guys have a ton of capabilities. And you know, what I like is what you said about the relationship with customers. I mean, any business, there’s a relationship involved. But certainly when you’re dealing with the the level of service that it takes to to do what you do, that relationship is really, really important, as opposed to a customer who kind of gets lost in the bureaucracy.
Liz Hare: That’s true. And so as a- so I’m fourth generation family here and it’s something I’ve seen passed down through and getting to work with my grandfather and my dad is that the contact with our our clients from the ownership perspective really keeps clients here longer. So like if we can get you in the door for us checks, we do them because we love to give tours. We love to go out and meet with our clients. I’m trying to focus in the next few years on spending more, my time going out and meeting our current clients. They do a lot of in-house work now, but I do want to get more involved because the relationships are so crucial to our business. We have a pretty big sales team because we cover kind of a large area. So we have multiple people in each region in Pennsylvania and DC, in Alexandria and in Maryland. So we have a really great sales team, a really good customer service that help move those relationships forward and our the day to day basis. But that’s to me, it’s still the key as a buy on the buying end. When I work with vendors, I’m much more likely to go to the ones that I know well or trust. And that still has to do with relationship building. And I mean, COVID did change a lot of the way we go about that as far as a lot more Zoom meetings, a lot more remote, but getting in front of people and still being with your clients and being involved in the early stages of the decision making or the planning of a project is still crucial to keeping more of that business long term.
Chris Santomassimo: If there’s anything good that came out of the pandemic, it would be the the comfort level of being able to communicate with each other on Zoom or teams, but at the end of the day, shaking hands with somebody and letting them know that you’re there to have their back when there’s an issue. Look at no matter how good we are at what we do, there’s always going to be a hiccup here and there. But to your point, having that strong connection with the people whose name is on the door, so to speak, is really, really important. And I, I echo what you say that those are the you know, when you have those relationships, those are the customers that are going to stay long term.
Liz Hare: Yeah. The reliance on knowing that we’re here for you and that if there is a problem with the job or if there is an issue or you have a question about, you know, how if something’s going to work, that they’re coming to us in advance and they trust our expertize and giving them the right answer before it becomes a major problem.
