Laura: Welcome to the Women’s Roundtable podcast, powered by the Think Factory, where we learn how women think big and grow their business. My name is Laura Siclari, a partner with Outside General Counsel Solutions, and I’m the host of today’s episode. I have with me today, Deborah Visconi, who is the CEO of Bergen New Bridge Medical Center Hospital in Bergen County, New Jersey. Welcome, Debbie. This podcast episode was a long time coming.

Deborah: Thank you, Laura. Great to be here. And thanks for having me on your podcast. Really appreciate it.

Laura: Wonderful. I’m so glad to have you as a guest. So, tell me about Bergen, Newbridge Medical Center for those who aren’t, you know, North Jersey, Bergen County Base. Tell me about the hospital.

Deborah: Sure. So, Bergen Woodbridge Medical Center is the largest hospital in the state of New Jersey. We are 1070 beds under a 1 million square foot roof sitting on 62 acres of Bergen County property in Paramus, New Jersey. We have been in the community for 105 years serving the public health needs of our communities. Given any particular era, what does public health needs or has been evolving over time? Today, when we first opened the hospital 105 years ago. It was looking at the community health needs around things like infectious diseases, tuberculosis, polio, scarlet fever, things like that. And today, fast forward and now we’re meeting the health care needs of our communities. But today it’s things like mental health and behavioral health and addictions and long-term care, geriatric, the aging population. And so, we’ve been serving the community needs. We are a safety net facility, which means that we take care of anyone that needs our services, regardless of their ability to pay, regardless of their insurance status and regardless of their immigration status. We are here to serve our communities when and where they need us.
