I’m a partner with Outside General Counsel Solutions, and I’m the host of today’s episode. I’m really happy to have with me here today, Nicole Velasco. Nicole serves as the Chief Operating Officer at Desert Star Recovery in Tucson, AZ, and she worked her way up through the ranks, honing a diverse skill set along the way. Nicole actually has a PhD in Business Administration, so more properly described. As a Doctor of Velasco, she thrives on problem solving, creating understandable reports and forecasting and transforming numbers into actionable insights. She is also the founder of Hope Through Therapy, a nonprofit whose mission is to eliminate financial barriers to mental health and substance abuse treatment. Nicole is also a veteran, having served in the US Air Force at the beginning of her career. Welcome, Nicole. Thanks for being here.
Nicole Velasco: Thank you so much for having me.
Susan Kleiner: So just to get started, could you tell me, so we what is Desert Star Recovery? What do they do and what sets them apart in the fields?
Nicole Velasco: Yeah. So Desert Star Addiction Recovery is located in Tucson, AZ. We are an outpatient facility, so nobody stays overnight. Not residential or anything like that. And so we have a lot of different programs and we are locally owned and operated, so no corporate stuff. Kind of a homey small town feel. We treat everybody like family. And so we’ve got some really interesting programs that I think set us apart.
