Chris Santomassimo: I’m Chris Santomassimo, your host, and welcome to the first podcast of 2025. I’m excited for the opportunity to talk to interesting folks, especially if they touch the printing and packaging industries. Today is no exception.
I’m here with Paul Bradshaw, the CEO of New Leaf Paper, based in Appleton, Wisconsin. Welcome to the podcast, Paul.
Paul Bradshaw: Thank you for having me, Chris. I appreciate it. It’s nice to talk to somebody in a place that’s at least as cold as where we are in Wisconsin, as opposed to our friends in Florida and places like that.
Chris Santomassimo: It might be a little colder there, for sure. Paul, I’ve been impressed by what you do at New Leaf Paper. No one can describe the company better than you. Could you tell us about New Leaf, especially its public benefit focus and positive environmental aspects?
Paul Bradshaw: Sure, happy to do that. New Leaf Paper is comprised of three entities: retail, publishing, and printing. We are a registered public benefit corporation in Pennsylvania, which means we file annual reports and disclose how we use our profits.
As a B Corp, we are committed to serving multiple stakeholders. These include the environment, our employees through benefits and compensation, the communities where we operate, and, of course, our shareholders. We like to say, “A promise given is a promise kept.” For us, that means giving back to the communities we serve.
Our role as a registered benefit corporation also involves transparency and accountability. We were certified as a founding B Corp in 2007, and since then, B Corp has grown significantly. B Corp holds us accountable to our commitments to the environment, sustainability, and other areas. Every few years, we are audited and scored in five areas, including our impact on the environment, employees, and communities. We strive to improve these scores and ensure our success allows us to do more good.
