Mark Snyderman: Hi, how’s everybody doing today? So welcome to The Think Factory podcast. I’ll be your host, Mark Snyderman. Today, we are fortunate to have Andrew Marson. He is the Director of Investment Sales at B6 Real Estate and also a Client and Strategy Specialist with Keller Williams Sports and Entertainment in New York City. Welcome to the podcast, Andrew.

Andrew Marson: Mark, a pleasure and a privilege. Thank you so much for having me.

Mark Snyderman: Yeah. So why don’t we get right into it? Why don’t you share your journey in the real estate? Because I think it’s super interesting because it sounds like you’ve been in Philadelphia and now you’re in sort of the New York market. So how did you get into real estate in the first place?

Andrew Marson: So my first foray into real estate began in Philadelphia, actually with a property management role. I was able to get in with a family that had a large portfolio of properties in the Rittenhouse Square area. And when the father of the family passed away and left the properties to the children, they wanted to put their stamp on it. So I was able to start working on renovation projects for all the one and two bedrooms that they had.

I was able to go from a property manager to a project manager and learned how to flip and renovate units, which was really a try and task when you’re in the heart of the city. And we got to work with those contractors and learn how they did their work and then was able to start doing that on my own.

So I started flipping properties, got my own real estate license, and I started the Find Your Philly team, which was in Philly and obviously doing real estate sales, doing condo conversions, residential home conversions, and then new construction. And in addition to renovating homes, I also raised capital for larger real estate construction projects as well.

Mark Snyderman: Oh, that’s awesome. So it sounds like you’re taking a look at all the different facets from real estate at this point.

Andrew Mason: Yeah, when I got into it. Thankfully, I didn’t have to run into too many union issues. We weren’t on huge skyrise projects but it is one of those situations where you have to find your way around who you can trust and who you can work with—and once you find those people, you really create a great network and a great circle.
