Alka Bahal: Welcome to the Think Factory’s Women’s Roundtable podcast, where we learn how women think and grow business, powered by OGC Solutions. My name is Alka Bahal. I’m a partner with OGC Solutions and the Chair of our Corporate Immigration Services Group. I’ll be your host today.

I’m very pleased to have with me here Christine Geissler, Global SVP of Human Resources at Reckitt. Welcome to the podcast, Christine!

Christine Geissler: Thank you. It’s great to be part of this, so I appreciate the invite.

Alka Bahal: Our absolute pleasure. Let’s start off with you telling us a little bit about your current role at Reckitt.

Christine Geissler: Okay, so currently Reckitt is split into a couple of groups, and one of the groups is our global nutrition group called Meat Johnson Nutrition, actually. And I technically am the CHRO for that business group globally, and I’ve been working with this business for the last five years. And we primarily focus on infant nutrition.

Alka Bahal: Interesting. And can you tell me a little bit about your career path? What was your journey to the current role?

Christine Geissler: Well, it’s interesting. I kind of fell into human resources. I feel like I’ve been on all parts of the business throughout my career, which is exciting, but it’s always been in human resources.

So, I spent some time on the retail side, then went into manufacturing. And from manufacturing, just basically went into more generalist roles supporting other parts of the commercial business and grew into CHRO roles.

I worked for Nestle for 20 years and very proud of working for that organization. And I was recruited away for a great opportunity. I did that for a few years back in my home state of Wisconsin, and then had a recruitment opportunity to join a company called Reckitt — and nobody seems to know our name, but you know all of our products, including our infant nutrition products.

But we’re known under our product labels, like Lysol, for instance, or Mucinex. So, it’s a major corporation that I’ve been proud to be a part of for the last five years.

Alka Bahal: Ah, you’re so right. We know those name brands. Yes. So, you’ve held senior leadership roles at really some of the world’s top companies. What unique challenges and opportunities have you faced as a woman rising through those ranks?
