Robert Parker is the founder and owner of Label King, a San Diego–based pressure‑sensitive label manufacturing company he established in June 2002 after identifying service and quality gaps while working as a packaging sales representative. Motivated to build a more customer‑focused label company, Parker invested in formal training in flexographic printing prior to launching the business.
Under Parker’s leadership, Label King grew from a single press in a 1,500‑square‑foot facility into an award‑winning operation that has produced billions of labels for customers across food and beverage, health and beauty, shipping, and industrial markets. The company now operates modern facilities in San Diego, California, and Salt Lake City, Utah, and is known for its emphasis on service, consistency, and continuous improvement.
Parker is widely recognized within the label and packaging industry. He has served on the TLMI (Tag & Label Manufacturers Institute) Board of Directors and was named TLMI Converter of the Year in 2023, reflecting his influence and leadership in the label manufacturing sector. He remains actively involved in advancing quality, including achieving ISO 9001:2015 certification for Label King in 2024.

Chris Santomasimo: I’m your host today, Chris Santomasimo, and I’m excited to talk to Robert Parker, who is the owner of Label King. So welcome to the podcast.
Robert Parker: Thank you, Chris. It’s good to be here.
Chris Santomasimo: Not that Label King needs a lot of introduction, but I’d love for you to talk about the company. But the theme I think we’re going to talk about today is how your success really is a function of creating a good company culture and really looking sort of internally at your team to create opportunities and the kind of culture that makes the company sing. So take it away, Robert. Talk a little bit about Label King and how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Robert Parker: Sure. That’s starting off. We’ve been in business for 24 years. We’ve grown steadily every single year for 24 years, which is pretty nice.
