Alkha Bahal: Welcome to The Think Factory’s Workplace Podcast, powered by OGC Solutions, the podcast where we explore the ever-evolving landscape of workplace dynamics. My name is Alka Bahal. I’m a partner with Outside General Counsel Solutions and the chair of our Corporate Immigration Services Group, and I’ll be your host today.
I’m very excited to have with me here Taryn Abrahams, founder and CEO Empower Behavioral Services. Welcome to the podcast, Taryn. Can you start by telling our listeners a little bit about yourself and what you do?
Taryn Abrahams: Of course, but I want to first start off by thanking you, Alka, for inviting me onto your podcast. It is I always welcome the opportunity to talk about leadership and workplace culture, and so I’m really delighted to be here. So I call myself a workplace behavioral specialist, and I’m sure the audience is probably thinking, what is that?
It really is about me leveraging my experience as a psychotherapist. My career started off in the clinical space, and I basically offer training and coaching and consulting services to help workplaces modernize their environment to create engaged, inclusive, respectful workplaces. And my focus is really about helping individuals as well as leaders, employees and leaders, improve their emotional intelligence, which I feel is an extremely important part of effective leadership and cultivating positive workplace cultures. So that is what I do.
Alka Bahal: That is wonderful. And I know the really unique thing about you is that you’re bringing this clinical background into the workplace, which I think is just incredible. The way you probably have this ability to deal with EQ, emotional intelligence and soft skills on a level others just don’t.
Taryn Abrahams: Yeah, yeah. And I would say you just kind of hit the nail on the head in terms of what the differentiating factor is between me and an HR specialist. Even though I play in the HR space, my focus is very specific. It’s very much on interpersonal skills. Like you mentioned, emotional intelligence skills, which I feel is extremely important because we do bring our entire self to work. And when you understand yourself better, you can navigate the world better.
