Alka Bahal: Welcome to The Think Factory’s Workplace Podcast, powered by OGC Solutions, the podcast where we explore the ever-evolving landscape of workplace dynamics. My name is Alka Bahal. I’m a partner with Outside General Counsel Solutions and the Chair of our Corporate Immigration Services Group I’ll be your host today.

I’m extremely pleased to have with me here today Martin Landreau, CFO at ULMA, ULMA Formworks. Welcome to the podcast, Martin.

Martin Alejandro Landreau: Hi, hello Alka. Thank you very much for this opportunity to share with you and the rest of the persons this podcast, and thank you for this great opportunity to be sharing with you.

Alka Bahal: Oh, it’s my pleasure. Let’s start off by you telling us a little bit about ULMA Formworks. Who are you? What do you do?

Martin Alejandro Landreau: Okay, thank you. Well, ULMA Formworks is part of the ULMA Group, that is a Spanish company related to the shoring and forming in the concrete industry. Here, we are in the United States since 1998, so more than 25 years that we are here.

Actually, I am the CFO of the company in the United States. This is my actual position. I started this new role in the company in 2016, when I was transferred from ULMA Brazil, where I worked before three years in the Sao Paulo city.

Alka Bahal: You were the CFO in Brazil too, right?

Martin Alejandro Landreau: Yes, yes. A similar position that I started my job in 2013 in ULMA Brazil as a CFO. Different names, but the same responsibilities with the finance department, human resources, and IT department. The same responsibilities that I had here in the United States at the beginning when I arrived. Now, we decided a couple of years ago that the human resources department should be our own department for the importance that the people have in our organization. So, I am no longer responsible for the department in the company now.

Alka Bahal: Well, that’s kind of nice. You get to focus on just the finance aspect. So tell me about ULMA’s worldwide footprint. Where do you have presence? You said that you entered the US in 1998, so you were established internationally much longer, right?

Martin Alejandro Landreau: Yes, yes. Well, our company started in 1961 in the Basque country that is in the north of Spain.

We have presence in more than 25 countries in the world with some branches, subsidiaries, and in some cases with some commercial offices representing the company. It’s a big company. We are a part of the ULMA group that is a big group in Spain. Well, we rent and sell forming and shoring for the concrete industry with our own factory located in Spain with different systems that provide the best quality and the best services for the construction industry.

Alka Bahal: Very, very cool. Now, let’s talk about your career journey. You’ve really had a very interesting path to your current role. You’ve been in positions of finance, hospitality, and of course leadership roles across multiple countries.

What would you say has been the common thread guiding your professional journey?
